As Christmas approaches once again, it’s time to start planning for parties, family get-togethers and fun. But let’s face it: the holidays can be a tremendous strain on personal finances. We all want fantastic looking hair right?
If you spend a lot of money on hair products at this time of year, you may not have as much money as you’d like for buying gifts and generally having a great time. By using these five ingenious holiday hair hacks, you can save cash and still look fantastic for the festive season.
- Egg Conditioner
You can save yourself the cost of buying an expensive hair conditioner by using just one egg. Crack an egg into a bowl and whisk the white and yolk together. Apply the egg mixture to your clean, damp hair and leave it on for about 20 minutes. Rinse it off with some fresh, clean water.
- Yogurt Conditioner
If you suffer from particularly dry or brittle hair, using plain yogurt as a conditioner should work wonders. Yogurt will add a beautiful shine to your hair; it will also moisturize and invigorate your scalp. Simply apply some unsweetened, plain yogurt to your clean, damp hair and leave it there for about 10 minutes before rinsing.
- Repair Damaged Hair and Create Volume with Beer
The malt and hops in beer are both rich in proteins, which are capable of repairing damaged hair and adding volume. In addition, the sugars in beer give hair an extra-shiny appearance. Simply decarbonate the beer and rub it into your hair after shampooing. Rinse thoroughly afterwards to remove any boozy odors.
- Make Hair Shine with Avocado
Mash up an avocado and apply it liberally to your dampened hair. Rinse out every last speck and then shampoo as normal. You won’t need to condition, as the natural oils in the avocado flesh will give your hair a glorious glow.
- Make Hair More Manageable with Maple Syrup
Dry, brittle hair can be very difficult to manage and style, but adding maple syrup or molasses to it will naturally moisturize your hair and make it much more receptive to brushes, combs and hair dryers. Rub the syrup into your damp hair and cover it with a shower cap for half an hour. Rinse all the syrup away and then shampoo as normal. The sugars in the syrup act as a natural moisturizing agent, giving you silky, manageable hair.
Don’t break the bank on hair products this Christmas. Instead, use everyday products you may already have at home to keep your hair full of festive cheer.
