Laura Dasi’s America’s Got Talent Alopecia Contestent

I chose to perform my Aerial act on America’s Talent in order to prove to myself that I deserve to be seen. There was a point in my life where I wanted to hide. I felt ugly and I didn’t feel beautiful at all. Five years ago I developed an autoimmune condition called Alopecia. This horrible disease attacks the hair follicles and left me completely bald. Since hair has a lot to do with society’s view of a beautiful woman I felt I was losing my womanhood. I now have come to a place of acceptance and I no longer have a fear of this disease. I teach classes and I perform in front of large audiences without feeling ugly or ashamed. Facing my Alopeica and not letting it control me has changed my life for the better.
